There's no single magic number of glasses that's right for everyone. How much fluid you need depends on your size, activity, and the weather, and food provides some of it too. But many of us could stand to drink a bit more. These habits make it easy.
1. Start the day with a glass
Keep a glass or bottle by the bed or coffee maker and drink it first thing.
2. Keep water within reach
A reusable bottle on your desk, in your car, or in your bag is the single easiest trick. If it's there, you'll sip it.
3. Make it taste good
Add slices of lemon, cucumber, or orange, a few mint leaves, or a splash of 100% juice. Sparkling water counts too.
4. Eat your water
Watermelon, cucumbers, oranges, strawberries, lettuce, and soups all contribute to your daily fluids.
5. Pair it with routines
Drink a glass with every meal, or each time you take a break. Pairing makes it automatic.
A simple check
For most healthy people, pale yellow urine and rarely feeling thirsty are good signs you're getting enough. Drink more when it's hot or you're active.
